I’ve been late in writing this entry since I’ve been a bit under the weather. After São Paulo I headed with some friends to Rio to visit the city and then over to Brasilia for the game between Brazil and the Netherlands. I stayed in this beautiful neighborhood called Santa Teresa about 20 min away from the beaches, which I highly recommend. The area around Ipanema & Leblon lack a sense of community and it’s all buildings across the boardwalk. In Santa Teresa, it is nice to walk around and pop into some hole-in-the-wall pubs. The houses are beautifully painted and the people are rather young. It’s also closer to visit the Christ the Redeemer statue.
For shopping,I found some great shops near the main strip in Ipanema. I bought some funky printed jumpsuits at this place called Farm which is like an Anthropologie store on acid. There are also several Osklen boutiques around, which is a Brazilian urban brand that has great fashion clothing with cool street style footwear and leather accessories. Around town, I saw a lot of women rocking bright printed nylon yoga leggings as casual pants. On the beach, there are a couple of vendors selling bathing suit tops and thongs in case you forgot to bring one. While many mix and match their pieces I settled on some neon suits to compensate for my lack of a tan. It was nice to feel the beaming sun in the middle of winter.
The last stop was Brasilia for the Brazil vs. Netherlands game. I was hoping Brazil would redeem themselves in this game, but it turned out poorly. I also wished the cup remained in South America but Germany rightfully won their spot as champions. Regardless of the outcome, being a part of the hype of the games was definitely exciting.
Now that I’m back home, I’m back to work and happy to delve into producing my women’s collection.
